This is where the original greenhouses sat for over 30+ years before moving to our new location.
We love our new location sitting right off Redwood Road where we provide all your plant and garden needs.
Our family has been farming West Jordan soil since 1911 when Grandpa Schmidt decided to raise his children on a farm. His grandson Richard followed the example of his grandfather and then his father and continues to work the land today. His children grew up selling the “Sweet Salt and Pepper Corn” on Grandma’s lawn that he has become famous for.
Richard eventually built a greenhouse to grow tomato plants in. Soon to follow were bedding plants to supply landscapers with. Landscapers loved the quality of the flowers and, each year, as their orders increased they also sent friends and neighbors to check out Schmidt’s “greenhouse.” What was once described as a “small greenhouse behind Grandma’s house, across the canal” has grown into a farm and retail operation that supplies you, our neighbors and friends, with all the beautiful plants you need every spring and delicious locally grown produce in the fall. Our retail greenhouse, opened in 2013, sits on the original homestead right behind Grandpa’s house where the old barn once stood.
